About the event
The origin of this exhibition and the transformation of the space begins with artist Wang Yalong. In recent years, he has experienced many changes, including relocating his studio and shifting his creative materials. These personal reflections gradually extended to a broader consideration of the experience of young artists. From this, the idea emerged to transform his private studio into a public space and to bring artistic practice back into the public eye.
Wang Yalong and Kuder were classmates during their postgraduate studies and collaborated on many public art projects during that time. Together, they created a series of public artworks across the vast northwest regions of China. In the past three years, as public art projects came to a standstill, they began experimenting with a new material: carpet. This choice is closely related to Kuder’s upbringing.
